Catching up on my video watching and finally made it to yours, Adam. Wish I had started with this than with some of the other craziness I did. Ah well. Love your review of Viggo's book. Looked it up on Amazon in the US and only one copy available for nearly $40 USD. May have to think it over if I want to put that much into it. I did enjoy your readings. He has a unique perspective and way with words.

There is this woman that I am trying to charm. She is spending the summer in Minnesota. I wrote her this really silly poem to be funny. She absolutely loved it so I set this high bar for myself but I don’t really know how to write poetry. Now I’m trying to study up on writing poetry so I can keep it up. Part of the poem I wrote goes; May the locals spare you from their lutefisk I caution you not to take the risk For it is merely year old fish preserved in lye so they don’t die from E. coli

Lare to the video, so sorry if I replete anything that has been said in the comments. I see bad poems that one may call it 'Instagram ' or as i have heard it called 'notes app' poetry that need not be published and poetry floating around that I would critique and that might not be my cup of tea. But poetry is like music or thought pr food. Once can no more think or eat for you than like a poem for you. Some of this does make poetry seem like an unserious tublar posts, but I never want to put anyone off writing for example. I'm no professional but I love writing poems and stories. I know others who write like my friends and my dad and its great to do. Writing can be fun, don't let being bad hold you back . Even 99% of most peoples stuff might not be publishable if that's what they want to do or what they think of as good, but if you keep going even just for the joy you might find a gem or something good. Through the bad you might get the good, so sometimes is two sides of the same coin and probably your favourite poet has some drafts they don't like or later realised were not as good as other poems So I think there are rip off books, that give nothing and repeat small things that try to be deep or relatable, but I also don't want to scare or gatekeep the act of writing poetry and expressing things with words. But that's just my opinion edit: poetry doesn't have to be serious I mean 'poetry' that thinks it's so serious and deep when it's not and can often be badly cliche. poems can be jokey and light and serious in their silliness or silly in their seriousness and all inbetween. I realise this made it sound like I was say all real poetry is heavy or serious, which I wasn't. I agree micro poems can be a good form, it can work, many forms can, but some I've seen just feel like quotes rather than poems. sorry this comment got kind of long, my bad

Looks like it could just be motion blur on a film camera (the cover technique) or possibly infrared film but I would lean towards the first. Either way, it looks like a beautifull collection of art. Mortensen has another collection, Linger (not finished the video so apologies if you mention that later on!)

facebook doesn't understand poetry. They rely on bots to step on poems based on specific words. I'd like to see the schools encourage kids to express their emotions and feelings through words. Crazy thing... I didn't see Adam on the second part of Conversing with Poets.

I’m quite late to this conversation, despite it being relevant to something I have enjoyed for my whole life. I read a lot as a child, and listened to audiobooks to sleep. I enjoyed memorizing poetry. I started hearing words of my own in my head and at seven or so, just over two decades ago, and have been writing ever since. In my prolonged state of childlike dreaming, it didn’t occur to me to comprehend the realities of poetry in contemporary culture. Until now. It’s been a pretty rude awakening, and I feel like my poetry has aged overnight into some dated relic.

This is so strong..as Jeff mentioned, very good metaphor! I know we can all feel this! Bravo Adam!

It's hot where I live. I didn't have internet for about six days because of all the rain we had over the last few months messing up the lines so I got off track a bit with internet things. Last week, a wasp stung my middle finger while I reached inside the mailbox. Nature is telling you how loved you are! Many times I've needed to or wanted to write and then for some reason could not.

Good stream Adam, and others. Sorry I missed another 'Conversing with Poets' I was looking a poem from a couple of years ago and thought it might make a good topic... poems inspired by other poems. I'll post it in the Cove. I find the question of three favourite poems intriguing. A very early memory is My father reciting 'The Cremation of Sam McGee' by Robert W Service, so that ranks up there. 'In Flanders Fields' by John McCrae is another top poem to me. Let me not forget 'Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening' by Robert Frost.
